From the Principal
We have had a busy start to Term 2! It has been great to see students returning to school very settled and ready to learn.
Catholic Schools Week
We are pleased to be celebrating Catholic Schools Week next week and the amazing work our students and teachers do everyday. This is a timely way to celebrate Catholic education and all that we have to be proud of. Next week classrooms will be open on Wednesday between 9:15 am and 10 am (after the Mother’s Day breakfast and prior to the Year K/1 Prayer Service). We hope to see you there!
Roofing Works
A transformation occurred over the school holiday period, with the hall/ tuckshop and upper classroom roofs and guttering being completely replaced! This has made a big difference aesthetically and was a mammoth task to complete over the two week period.
School Photo Day Reminder
Tuesday 6th May has been booked for our annual school photo day. Please make a note of this in your diaries and ensure students are wearing their correct full winter school uniform on the day. Photo slips have been sent home to families. These need to be returned prior to school photo day.
ANZAC Day - Tuesday 25th April
Thank you to all students and families who
represented our school proudly at the Grenfell ANZAC Day Services. This is always a significant event. Our School Captains Charlie and Callum read tribute poems at both services, and laid a wreath. They are to be commended on the way in which they conducted themselves. The students also got a thrill to see the Australian Air Force Hercules aircraft fly overhead. It is always wonderful to see our younger generation acknowledge and pay their respects to those who served and those who are still serving.
New Family Welcome
We would like to extend a warm welcome to our new students Mac and Noah, and their families, who have joined our school community. We hope that your experience with us is positive and fruitful and we are pleased to have you both.
Children’s Crossing Reminder
Please be reminded that children’s crossings are part-time crossings. They usually operate during school zone hours, and at other approved times and locations. When a children’s crossing is operating, it is marked by red/ orange flags at both sides. When you see the flags, you must slow down and stop before the white stripes or ‘Stop’ line to give way to pedestrians. If the flags are not displayed, it is not operating as a children’s crossing.
Western Region Cross Country
Western Region Cross Country will be held in Batlow on Friday. Ms Washbrook will be supervising on the day. Please check the Compass Event for further details. We wish our runners all the best!
School Athletics Carnival
The annual athletics carnival will be held in Week 3, Thursday 15th May at the Henry Lawson High School. Further information and times will be shared via Compass in the coming week!
Swimming Championships

The St Joseph’s Primary School relay team returned to Homebush at the end of term 1 to compete against other small schools across the state. They swam a terrific race, swimming their best time yet! They came fifth in their heat. The St Joseph’s School community are incredibly proud of their determination and achievement. From all reports it was an amazing experience for the students and their families.
Winter Uniform
A reminder that as students return in Term 2, they are expected to be wearing their full winter uniform. Please ensure all clothing items are labelled with your child's name. This includes light blue sleeved shirts, navy trousers for boys and/or navy skirts and stockings for girls. In addition to ties.
Mother’s Day
We would like to thank the hardworking School Community Council members for organising the Mother’s Day Breakfast, Raffle and Stall. We hope all Mother’s/ Mother figures are spoilt next Sunday!
Music Tutoring
Class music lessons for 2/3/4 will take place this term.
In relation to individual lessons, it is not too late to enrol your child if they are interested in learning an instrument.
